What type of assets do you inspect?

A.

The assets are classified as either a turnout, siding, level crossing, or a length of track belonging to a level crossing. The track inspector determines the attributes of the asset while the data entry officer enters the information into a application on the tablet computer.

Who do Rail Futures send out as a team for rail inspections?

A.

Our team consists of a certified track inspector, a data input operator and a track protection officer, and they use client yard and ownership maps initially to locate and identify assets.

What type of attributes do you include on rail inspections?

A.

The attributes collected include the rail size, turnout angle, switch type, bearer type, etc. Where the track can be inspected a full asset inspection is carried out.

A.

Our systems develop works program to affect urgent repairs and effect short and medium term activities.

What makes the data instantly available to Supervisors & Clients?

A.

Throughout the day the data on the tablet is synchronised with a "software as a service" database in the cloud.

What does the Geismar Trolley record into the database ?

A.

The trolley measures and records Distance, Cant, Gauge, Twist and Bearer Condition at 125mm intervals. The Bear Condition is entered via a simple 3 button selection on the Tolley. Additional information such as Start of Curve and Covered Bearers are collected directly from the Trolley. At the end of the work day, the Trolley readings are uploaded and processed into a single inspection database.

Is there any cross checking ?

Data comes from two sources, the Geismar Trolley and the data entered into the tablet. The asset and inspection, two sources of data is cross checked to ensure that no data has been missed.
